Yes. This is a remote rainforest reserve, not a resort and not a curated experience. Trails are rugged, weather changes quickly, and nature sets the rules. If you want polished comfort, this is not the place. If you want real rainforest, it is.

Yes. Rain is part of the rainforest and part of the experience. Hikes, river crossings, and waterfalls happen in all conditions unless guides determine it is unsafe. Expect mud, mist, and changing conditions.

La Casona is rustic and off-grid.
We provide bedding, but guests are welcome to bring:

  • A sleeping bag

  • A lightweight tent

  • A hammock

There is no electricity, no hot water, and no luxury amenities. There are showers, but the water is cold. This is intentional and part of disconnecting fully.

To begin the trek, you must travel approximately 10 kilometers up a mountain road. A 4×4 vehicle is required.

You can safely park your vehicle at the designated area before the hike begins.

We can assist with transportation to the trailhead.
This is a paid service and must be arranged in advance. Availability is limited.

This is not controlled or staged in any way.

No. This is not a zoo.
The terrain is steep, dense, and clouded, and animals move freely. Some guests see many species, others see few. What is guaranteed is being fully immersed in real habitat

No. We intentionally limit group sizes to preserve the land and maintain isolation. This ensures a quieter, more personal experience for each group and minimizes environmental impact.

No. There is no electricity anywhere on site.

How physically demanding is the experience?

This is a moderate to demanding experience. Hikes include elevation changes, river crossings, and long distances on uneven terrain. You do not need to be an athlete, but you should be comfortable hiking several hours a day.

We recommend:

  • Hiking boots with good grip

  • Rain jacket or poncho

  • Quick-dry clothing

  • Headlamp or flashlight

  • Personal medications

  • Snacks

  • Optional sleeping bag, tent, or hammock

A full packing list is provided after booking.
